Cam. Ministry Peer Leadership

 

Next Peer Leadership Meeting  --  Monday, October 26th, after school in Room 2160.  It's time to invite members of the sophomore class to join Peer Leadership.  Sign up to visit the sophmore Religion classes.  All Peer Leaders are encouraged to attend.

The Peer Leadership program is a hands on, leadership skills training process. The goal of peer leadership training is to develop a group of students, Peer Leaders, trained in leadership skills, who choose to use their talents and skills to help others. Students are welcome to participate starting in their sophomore year of school.  Students are required to attend the training session offered January 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Topics include Communication Skills and Moral Decision Making.  

 

WHAT IS THE SOPHOMORE PEER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM?

The Sophomore Peer Leadership program is a year long, hands on, leadership skills training process.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE SOPHOMORE PEER LEADERSHIP TRAINING?

To develop a group of students, Peer Leaders, trained in leadership skills who choose to use their talents and skills to help others.

WHAT SKILLS WILL WE LEARN AND PRACTICE?

You’ll learn how to:

  • communicate effectively
  • help someone make responsible decisions
  • resolve conflicts
  • pray with someone in need.
  • PLUS much more

 

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?

Each Peer Leader is expected to:

  • be academically eligible
  • be respectful of and be respected by other peers and adults
  • be willing to serve others, especially those in need
  • agree to make a commitment to the training sessions
  • attend monthly meetings
  • demonstrate one of the leadership skills listed above, once each semester, in an approved activity

 

WHAT QUALIFIES AS  AN APPROVED ACTIVITY FOR DEMONSTRATING  LEADERSHIP SKILLS?

Any activity where leadership skills are used to serve others.  Some examples are: Athletic programs (coaching, mentoring), Campus Ministry, Outreach, Retreat Team, SAC, many others.  It could be something in your parish, scouting, in your community, etc.   Be creative!

HOW DO I JOIN ?

Complete a Sophomore Leadership Program application and submit a letter of recommendation from a peer (friend).  Parent permission is also required.  Applications are available in Campus Ministry.
