Faculty Advisor: Mr Thomas Gawrys
The Bishop Fenwick Math Team is a member of the Massachusetts Mathematics League, an organization of approximately forty schools in five divisions that competes six times a year from October to March at different host schools within the district. The Math Team provides students the opportunity to apply concepts already learned in a competitive and social environment outside of the classroom setting. The Math Team strives to ensure that all participants have fun while they develop their critical reasoning skills and math confidence in a social atmosphere.
Practices are held every Thursday in Room 210. Students must attend two practices to compete in the meet of the month. Regulars are selected by cumulative and high scores. Categories are assigned by the Captains based on the preference form submitted by the individual competitor.
The Captains for the 2010-2011 year will be chosen in the fall.
Participation on the team does not involve a full year's commitment. So, when your Fall or Winter sport has ended, you are still welcome to join for the remaining meets of the year.
The first meet of the 2010-2011 season will be Thursday 10/7/10 at Marblehead High School.
