701 Accounting - College Prep Grade 12
  Full Year One Credit

This course provides students with the principles of bookkeeping and accounting to prepare them for further education in the field.  Emphasis is on the analysis of transactions and recording them in journals and subsidiary ledgers.  Additional topics include payroll records, income and social security taxes and the introduction of computerized accounting through the use of spreadsheets.

703 Basic Computer Applications - College Prep Grade 10
  First Semester One-half Credit

This computer literacy course uses Windows Vista and Microsoft Office Professional 2007.  It is designed to teach students the computer applications that they will need to successfully complete the various computer projects they will encounter in their courses at Bishop Fenwick.  They will cover Word, Excel PowerPoint and Publisher.

705 Advanced Computer Applications - Accelerated Grades 11 & 12
  First Semester One-half Credit

This computer literacy course uses Windows Vista and Microsoft Office Professional 2007 to teach students Excel and Access extensively.  Students should be familiar with Word, Publisher and PowerPoint, as only advanced features of these will be covered.  This is a project based course where students are required to do a semester long project that incorporates all aspects of MS Office.  They will be given several topic areas from which to choose or they may pick their own topic with teacher approval.  They are expected to do the research for the content area of this project outside of class.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Basic Computer Applications with a C+ or better.

706 Advanced Computer Applications - Accelerated Grades 11 & 12

708 Computer Programming - Honors Grades 11 & 12
  Second Semester One-half Credit

This course is designed to introduce the student to elements of programming.  The student will plan and write, run, edit and debug a variety of programs.  Emphasis is placed on the mastery of basic statements and programming techniques.  This course is designed as a technical course for students who plan a career in Computer Science.  Students should possess good logic and problem solving skills.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Basic Computer Applications with a B- or better and a C+ or better in Geometry Accelerated or a C+ or better in Foreign Language Accelerated.

710 Web Page Development - College Prep Grades 11 & 12
  Second Semester One-half Credit

This course is designed to introduce the student to web page development using HTML.  Students will design and create technically proficient and effective web pages, which will incorporate formatted text, graphics, hyperlinks, tables, forms, banners, and other elements.  This is a project-based course where students will develop a web page that will be posted on a section of the Fenwick home page.  Students will also be introduced to Share Point after they master the basic elements of HTML.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Basic Computer Applications with a C.

711 Virtual High School Grades 11 & 12
  Full Year One Credit
Virtual High School is a collaborative of high schools from around the world which contribute on line courses to students from member schools.  As a member Bishop Fenwick students may apply to take an online course provided certain requirements are met:  the course meets the standards of Bishop Fenwick, the course is not offered at Bishop Fenwick, the student meets the prerequisites for the course.  Courses are leveled ranging from AP, Honors, and Standard.  Course lists and descriptions may be obtained from the guidance office or on line at www.govhs.org.  Some of the more populare courses include AP Statistics, AP Environmental Science, Bioethics, Eastern & Western Thought, Investing in the Stock Market, Preveterinary Medicine, Entrepreneurship and Irish Literature.  Although these courses are taken during the school day they are treated as "independent study" courses and therefore students must be approved before enrolling.  Application forms are located in the guidance office and must be filled out in addition to the standard course selection form.

Pre-requisite:  Meets pre-requisite of course as specified by VHS and approved Application Form.
